It has been alleged that the manufacturers knew that the drug might have certain grave consequences on the patient but still concealed the facts, not only from the people but also from the FDA. This allegation was made on the drug and the manufacturers after an incident in 1989 when a gunman named Joseph Wesbecker killed eight men and then himself. No concrete action has been taken on Eli lily as of now but today the FDA has made it compulsory that all the antidepressants carry warnings of inducing suicidal thoughts, if any.
