TMJ pain can affect every area of your life if it is not treated. If you are experiencing TMJ pain you need to learn about the condition so that you can treat it and stop the discomfort you are feeling.

Many people do not realize the effects that they feel because of TMJ pain– constant nagging headaches, a sore jaw, changes in food choices because of their jaw pain, worn teeth from grinding, etc.

There are many ways that TMJ pain negatively affect a person, but luckily there are a few things that can be done to remedy the condition. Some people automatically think about surgery and other expensive options, but I am talking about simple home remedies that can help you find relief.

Before you start looking at treatment options, it is important that you understand Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome so that you know why it hurts. The temporomandibular joint holds the lower jaw to the skull, it is the joint that moves when your mouth opens and closes. That joint is essential for speech, eating, and other daily tasks.

The joint is affected by the way the upper and lower teeth fit together, if the teeth aren’t resting well then it may cause the jaw joint movement to be wrong. When the jaw joint doesn’t line up correctly, it can cause many other problems– especially TMJ pain for the person experiencing it.

Sometimes the TMJ symptoms are even worse– in addition to the regular dull and throbbing TMJ pain, a person my experiencing locking or popping in the jaw, or other pain in the ears or face. Also, the jaw may constantly feel tired, even though it has not been overworked.

Painkiller Addiction: IF you’ve been there personally, or have credible knowledge of same, can you answer this?

IMA SLUTPUPPY 4 U! asked:

I have a VERY good Friend, we’ll call her Sheree, 44, who has been taking Painkillers daily for over 6 months. These pills consist of mainly Hydrocodones, “Vicodin” and similar derivatives, as well as occasional “supplements” of Soma and Norcos. Sheree does indeed have some painful afflictions for which she requires these Painkillers, (Kidney Stones, Bladder Infections, Ovarian Cysts, & more.) She begins taking them when she awakens, then every 2-3 hours, throughout the day. In addition, Sheree also ingests a daily regime of Xanex & Carisoprodol pills for “anxiety” issues, in the morning and throughout the day.
When I expressed concern to Sheree that she might become addicted, she was quite adamant that she #1, was NOT addicted, and #2, would know IF she was addicted to either pill regime!
I have only recently learned that Carisoprodol is, alone and by itself, very addictive.
MY QUESTION: In your opinion, are the odds good that Sheree IS addicted to the Painkillers???
If so, what can she do about it, per a semi-painless “Detox”? She is a single mother w/3 children.
