Can isulated clothing protect against muscle paralysis from Tasers?

October 14th, 2010
Patrick A asked:

If one were to wear rubber clothing and shoes, would one be insulated enough to protect against muscle paralysis from Tasers?
Thanks for the answers! I thought Tasers created a circuit between the subject and the earth. I was hoping that with insulation between the two, that circuit would be grounded, or at least broken. Btw, is there a way to prevent a taser from paralyzing your muscles? Other than gearing up in a combat outfit, of course.

Mare with the ‘Impressive’ Bloodlines?

September 26th, 2010
Thundering Hooves asked:

I saw this ad for a mare who looks perfect for me. She would be my first horse. She does absolutely everything I would want in a horse, but there’s one problem. She has the ‘Impressive’ Lines. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a disease called HYPP. It’s basically horse muscle paralysis, and it came from one stallion with the name Impressive. It keeps getting passed down generations, and this mare has that bloodline not too far away.

Anyway, this mare is being sold for a close to nothing price, as the owner ‘can’t afford her anymore’. I’m very wary of this, and might be thinking she could have HYPP. When I go to try her out, what should I do? Any signs to show if she has it? I really don’t want to talk the vet with me on the first viewing, but I also don’t want to get my hopes built up after riding her and possibly thinking she’s the one.
she’s 12 years old and a registered Paint horse.

Here she is:
